What can this experiment teach us about the way we live together in big cities?

Fortune Cook Me

Yang Ni
Year: 2022

Synopsis: There are no fortune cookies in Asia. “Fortune Cook Me" is a design report about fortune cookies and an intercultural cooking workshop. The fortune cookie, which has existed for over a century, is considered a symbol of Asia, but is completely unknown there. The fortune cookie is like a pair of binoculars through which people look to the East and narrow their perspective. With fortune cookies as props and humor as dressing, the three-course workshop will bring people from different cultures to understand each other and enrich the semantics of fortune cookies.

Bio: Yang Ni interrupted his painting studies and moved from China to Germany. He understands design as a language of human communication with which he can express himself from a different perspective than painting and at the same time achieve an impact on society. He tries to use the only ten grams of humor he has as an icebreaker for dialogue and dressing for his artistic practice.

Dimitri Lavallée &
Philippe Vanasse-Paquet
Year: 2022

Urbex abounds in Montreal. To taste it is to get addicted. And we took that risk.

Bio: DIMITRI LAVALLÉE: After a few years in a theater program, I haphazardly tasted cinema. I took a liking at the back of the camera and this passion permitted me to get a collegial diploma in cinema. I directed a few short films, and I would like to use this art to continue to express my intense feelings and bring it to life for my spectators.

PHILIPPE VANASSE-PAQUET: Intuitive, highly curious, creatively starved… That would describe at best the 19 years old young director, acting on film sets for 11 years now. After less than a decade of working in acting and dubbing (french voice of Spider, Avatar 2), the call of film directing happened four years ago when he directed his first short film, Captive (where he played the lead role). Since then, he accumulated two short films, a documentary, seven prizes, a dozen of nominations, and started his production company in 2022, “Non Applicable”.
